These small dark particles, often mistaken for organic remnants or dirt, are natural materials like sea debris or flecks of dried seaweed and are not a cause for concern. Sea sponges naturally vary in shape and color. The color variations, which can range from bright yellow to dark grey or orange-brown, result from minerals absorbed from the sea. These differences are normal and do not indicate inferior quality; they reflect the natural beauty of the sea sponge, and there is no need for concern. Proper maintenance, such as avoiding prolonged dampness and allowing sponges to air dry naturally after use, is recommended to enhance their longevity and preserve their natural appearance. When delivered, sea sponges will feel hard and dry and may measure smaller than expected. Please note that sea sponges are sized when wet and subject to some shrinkage when dried and packaged. To return them to their natural size, fully saturate sponges with water and squeeze a few times. Once rehydrated, they will become soft and restored back to their full size.
